What We Do

We design and install smart home systems using enterprise-grade, locally controlled infrastructure. Our work is centred on Home Assistant OS — a private, open-source platform that keeps your data on your own hardware, not on someone else's server.

Our Core Principle — Anti-Cloud Brittleness

Consumer smart home systems depend on third-party cloud servers that go offline, change APIs, or shut down entirely. We replace those fragile dependencies with robust local infrastructure. Your system works whether the internet is up or not.

Our service tiers ("Sauces") cover: climate control, air quality, smart lighting, water leak protection, security & surveillance, and motorised window treatments. Each is designed to work independently or in combination.

Our Service Model

B2C — Private Individuals

For residential clients, Luz Automation operates on a service-only basis. We provide consultation, system design, installation labour, and software configuration. You purchase your own hardware directly from retailers (we provide a curated procurement list and can assist via our Procurement Concierge service).

This model means you own your hardware outright, deal directly with manufacturers on warranty, and are never locked into our business for replacements or returns.

B2B — Companies & Developers

For business clients, we can supply hardware and services together, invoiced with full VAT via KSeF. Please contact us to discuss B2B project terms.

Terms of Service

By engaging Luz Automation for any paid service — including a Strategy Session, installation, or System Care subscription — you agree to the following terms. The full Service Agreement and Annex A (Fee Schedule) are provided before any work begins and constitute the legally binding contract.

Payment & Fees

All fees are quoted and invoiced in Polish Złoty (PLN) inclusive of 23% VAT. Payment is by bank transfer only — we do not accept cash.

Standard Payment Terms

Invoices are due within 14 days of the invoice date. For project work, a 50% deposit is collected on signing the Service Agreement. The remaining 50% is invoiced on completion.

Late payments are subject to statutory interest under Polish law (Kodeks Cywilny).

Visit Fees

ItemRate
Strategy Session300 PLN — credited against first invoice if project signed within 90 days. Non-refundable otherwise.
Travel surcharge2 PLN/km (full round trip, Google Maps) for visits beyond 75 km. Non-refundable.
Cancellation fee250 PLN + travel incurred, for cancellations under 24 hours or no-show on arrival.

System Care Subscription

PlanRate
Monthly199 PLN / month
Annual (prepaid)1,650 PLN / year (~30% saving)
Re-activation (after 60+ day lapse)250 PLN one-off

System Care covers remote troubleshooting, automation updates, and software maintenance for existing deployments. It does not cover new service tier installations or on-site visits.

On-Site Visits

On-site visits within 75 km of our registered address are included within the applicable service fee. Beyond 75 km, a travel surcharge applies at 2 PLN/km (full round trip). Distances beyond 150 km one-way are assessed individually before booking.

What You Need to Provide

  • A working Ethernet / 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz Wi-Fi network
  • Clear access to the electrical consumer unit (skrzynka bezpiecznikowa)
  • A responsible adult (18+) present for the full duration of the visit
  • All hardware for the session delivered and on-site in advance

If these conditions are not met on arrival, the visit may be rescheduled and the cancellation fee (250 PLN + applicable travel) will apply.

Scope of Work

Work performed beyond the scope agreed in your Service Annex will be quoted and invoiced separately at the applicable per-device or hourly rate. Verbal agreement during a visit constitutes acceptance of additional charges.

Hardware & Equipment

For B2C (residential) clients, all hardware is purchased directly by you. We provide a curated procurement list specifying the exact models needed for your system. You are the purchaser of record for all devices and deal directly with the retailer or manufacturer for warranty, returns, and replacements.

Procurement Concierge

If you'd like us to manage the hardware sourcing process on your behalf, we offer a Procurement Concierge service at 300 PLN per session. We place the order using your own account — you remain the buyer. This service is available to B2C clients only and does not affect our service-only billing structure.

SmartWings Blinds — Important Notice

Motorised window treatments are offered as new installations only. We do not retrofit or motorise existing manual blinds or curtain rails due to hardware inconsistency and long-term reliability concerns.

Workmanship Warranty

All installation work is performed with reasonable professional skill and care, in accordance with Polish technical standards and our SEP G1 electrical certification where applicable.

Installation workmanship is warranted for 90 days from the date of service. This warranty applies to defects directly caused by our installation work. It does not cover hardware failure, manufacturer firmware updates, network changes made by you, or third-party software modifications.

Limitations of Liability

Luz Automation is not liable for service interruptions or system failures caused by factors outside our control, including but not limited to:

  • Hardware defects or manufacturer firmware updates (Sonoff, IKEA, Aqara, Reolink, Philips, SmartWings, and others)
  • Changes to third-party cloud APIs or communication protocols
  • Internet service provider (ISP) outages affecting remote access
  • Radio frequency interference (Zigbee, Wi-Fi, Z-Wave) from neighbouring devices
  • Power grid interruptions beyond the capacity of the installed UPS
  • Modifications made by you or any third party to the Home Assistant configuration after handover
  • Expiry of your Nabu Casa subscription (remote access and cloud backup are your ongoing responsibility)

A Note on Nabu Casa

Nabu Casa is an optional third-party subscription (~320 PLN/year) that enables secure remote access and encrypted cloud backup for your Home Assistant system. We strongly recommend it and assist with setup, but it is your own subscription — paid directly to Nabu Casa, Inc. — and is not included in any Luz Automation fee.
